The Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth in December 1620, badly weakened by the voyage.
This has strong Duncan Sabien flavor to me — maybe because his Animorphs fic in particular has lots of stuff about trust, negotiation, and simulation. Maybe also some of the phrasing, and the way it explores different mindsets.
